I was born in 1944 in Königsberg andgrewup in Nordhorn.
After my apprenticeship and working for several years in the textile branch, in 1973 I opened a small shop, selling dress materials, in Tettnang beside Lake Constance. Later I opened another 3 shops in thisarea.
1990 first attempt stop aint with watercolors. There followed many exhibitions in various european regions.
1991 I was presented with a medal for the best watercolor painting by the French Minister of Culture.
1994 Opening of season with an Easter exhibition in the heraldic hall of the castle on the Island Mainau/Lake Constance.
1995 I gave my first art classes, and to this day, I organize painting trips to the most beautiful areas both in and outside Europe.
For more than 16 years the KORSCH-Publisher has been very successful selling the calendar “Landscapes in Watercolors” and also birthday calendars and greeting cards. Various other publishers have greeting cards with motifs of flowers and landscapes in their regular range. There are even carrier bags with some of my motifs printed on them, which are available all over the world.
2002 was the year I opted out of my business enterprise. This was also the year I ended my time as a singer and guitarist, after over 20 years, with a group called “Route 66” which I helped to form. A television appearance, a CD and many live concerts were all exciting experiences. After that I could totally concentrate on my artwork.
2008 I moved to Killwangen, near Zürich, in Switzerland.
In my studio, I give courses to beginners teaching them the basics of sketching. The requirements for a successful picture are explained in detail in my book “Richtig Sehen und locker Skizieren”, which means “To see things correctly and to sketch in a relaxed way“.
With the more experienced artists I work with the difficult technique of “free watercolor painting”. That is painting directly on to the paper without a pre-drawn sketch. As this is probably the most difficult method of painting, I wrote a second book called “Freies Aquarellieren ohne Vorzeichnen” (“Free watercolor painting without a pre-drawn sketch”), which is available everywhere.
In my forty minutes tutorial video I explain, step-by-step in every detail, how to see things correctly, to sketch easily, and then how to color the sketch. Included is also a photo of the motif used. The video is like a private artclass in your own home.
